Knicks Game Analysis: Knicks @ Timberwolves

Tom Thibodeau takes on his former team in Minnesota tonight in what should be a good game. The Knicks are heading into this game with a record above .500 at 24-23, holding on to a 5th seed spot in the Eastern Conference. The Timberwolves are 11-36 and own the worst record in the NBA currently. The Timberwolves also have one of the worst home game records in the league, being 6-17 on their own court. Derrick Rose is currently day-to-day with left ankle soreness, and Mitchell Robinson is out with a fractured right foot. For the T-Wolves, they have two players out for the game, being Josh Okogie for COVID-19 protocols, and D’Angelo Russell with a knee injury. As always I have three keys for us to win this game, something we should do without a doubt. Firstly, we have to contain Anthony Edwards, KAT, and score over 100 points.

Anthony Edwards has been on a tear lately, dominating and currently #1 in the rookie of the year standings after a slow start to his season. This year’s first overall pick is averaging 17.2 points per game, and has been dominating when he gets on the court. The Knicks play low scoring games, so to keep with that pattern we have to hold Ant under 20 points tonight. Another former first overall pick Karl Anthony-Towns is silently averaging 24 PPG and 10.5 RPG. With our lack at the center position with Mitch out, we have to step up and stop KAT. Back to what I said before, we need to get over 100 points. We are currently 28th in points per game, shockingly five spots under the Timberwolves. We shoot well and have a fantastic offense, it just feels like every game is too close and we’re not scoring over 100 points easily, so if we put up 100 points our defense can handle the rest of Minnesota. I expect us to win by at least fifteen points, and to get a needed road win. As always, go Knicks!
