I know you probably think I’m one of those delusional Yankee fans that think we can sign everyone that hits free agency but if certain things line up Cody Bellinger could end up in Pinstripes one day. Now let me tell you why this isn’t as ludacris as you think. Firstly Cody’s dad Clay played for the Yankees for 3 years 1999-2001. That most likely means Cody was from ages 4-7 through those times and saw the Yankees win a 3 peat. I’m just saying Cody was probably a big Yankee guy growing up and maybe it’s just destiny to happen.
Money: This is one of the bigger concerns with this because we already have Gerrit Cole’s contract for 8 more years, we have Stanton’s big contract for another 10+, and eventually we will have to pay guys like Judge, Gleyber, and Gary. Aaron Judge is sadly injury prone because of freak accidents that he can’t control. Eventually if this keeps going until his free agency year it might be the time for the Yankees to move on (NOT WISHING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN AT ALL.) Gleyber is only 23 and won’t be a FA until he’s 28 in the 2025 season so we don’t have to worry about him. Gary’s FA year is 2023 where he is 30 years old so we’ll see. Now the contract we would be giving Belli would be up there the highest but he would be worth it because the kid being lefty in Yankee Stadium would kill teams for years to come. I don’t like saying this but Bellinger is not injury prone like Judge and could definitely be there for an 162 game season.
What a Yankee Bellinger Lineup could Look Like:
- DJ LeMahieu 2nd (Resign)
- Jasson Dominguez CF (2024 EST)
- Cody Bellinger (RF)
- Gleyber Torres (SS)
- Gary Sanchez (C)
- Giancarlo Stanton (DH)
- Mike Ford (1st)
- Clint Frazier (LF)
- Gio Urshela (3rd)
