New York Yankees

The New York Yankees sweep the Boston Red Sox! Frazier shows off, Chapman’s BACK and the Injury Bug is BACK!

In a 4-game home series, the Yankees easily swept the Red Sox. However, the Bronx Bombers were yet again bit by the injury bug. It is truly tragic going into a crucial series against the Tampa Bay Rays. We lost Aaron Judge and DJ LeMahieu, two of the most crucial players for the Yankees. With those two going down, we saw Frazier and Voit come to the plate and deliver impressive at-bats. We also saw some great pitching performances, let’s dig in!

Game One (Friday Night: Cole vs. Brewer)

Cole pitched a great game with 7 IP, 1 ER, 8 Ks, and 0 walks. I believe he should’ve thrown the 8th because that’s what an Ace being paid $36M a year does. However, it was impressive, nonetheless, and I’ll take it. The offense was working the Red Sox, and Gleyber went 4-4 on the night with three singles and a double with 2 RBIs. Tauchman also showed up big-time with three hits. The team was working.

Game Two (Saturday Night: Paxton vs. Eovaldi)

Paxton had a great first two innings, just got caught in a slump in the third. Then he went onto pitch two more innings. In overall had 5 IP, 3 ER, 2 Ks, and one walk. In response to those runs, the Yankee offense UNLOADED! Frazier put up and incredible stat line with 5 RBIs! Insanely good! This is the game that DJ got injured.

Game Three (Sunday Night: Happ vs. Mazza)

This wasn’t precisely the highest-scoring game, and it makes sense with DJ and Judge being out. Happ had 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 Ks, and two walks. Considering his previous starts, he did pretty well. Not much to talk about this game, so onto the next.

Game Four (Monday Night: Montgomery vs. Perez)

Monty started and was impressive until the fourth. He had 3.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 Ks, and 0 walks. Then, as usual, the Yankee offense scored and had 6. To get the save in his debut, Chapman came in and was throwing flames. 101+ miles per hour fastballs. That’s going to bring this recap to a close. This has been Jose Calderon III with FiveBoroughDispatch; have a great day, everybody!
