Replacements for Aldrick Rosas in 2020

Giants Kicker Aldrick Rosas was arrested early Monday morning on a hit and run charge, after he was involved in a T-bone collision, and fled the scene on foot. Later revealed to be drunk, Rosas’ future with the Giants is cloudy, especially after a disappointing season last year. Even if the Giants decide against cutting the 25-year-old and former Pro-Bowl Kicker, it is likely he will face a suspension from the NFL, so who will the Giants sign in his place?
1. Stephen Gostkowski

The former Patriot was cut in the offseason after missing the majority of the 2019 season with a hip injury that required surgery. The 36-year old has been one of the best kickers in the NFL since he was drafted in 2006. Throughout his 14-year Career, Gostkowski hit on 86.47% field goal attempts, and was 7-8 on field goals last season before being placed on the IR. If he can rebound after hip surgery, he would be a good replacement, and could even be an upgrade to Rosas who only hit 70% of his attempts last season.

2. Ryan Succop

Another kicker whose season was shortened by injury and released in Free Agency, 33-year-old could be a good option for the Giants. Succop has a  career 82.2% field goal percentage, but hindered by injuries in 2019, Succop converted on 1 field goal out of 6 attempts. If he could return to the kicker he was in 2018 where he had an 86.7 field goal percentage, Ryan Succop could prove to be a good choice.

3. Nick Folk

The 35-year old was signed by New England after Stephen Gostkowski was declared out for the season and Mike Nugent proved to be a disaster. He was decent last year, with an 82 field goal percentage, and hitting on every extra point. Although he didn’t play the entire season, Folk was good enough last year, and could be a reliable kicker for the Giants in 2020.

Aldrick Rosas’ idiocy has the Giants scrambling for a kicker, which is never a good thing. Kickers can win or lose games for NFL teams, and having a reliable kicker goes a long way for teams.
