5 Sneaky Good Seasons you didn’t know about

We can all tell when someone is having a really good season like James Harden averaging 40 ppg, or LeBron averaging the most assists in the NBA. But there are always the guys that have under the radar seasons that nobody talks about. And today we are gonna be discussing 5 players who had sneaky good seasons.

1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC)

This might be more the obvious ones but people still don’t notice the star potential of Shai. After putting up an average rookie year with the Clippers, Shai was part of the mega trade that sent Paul George to team up with Kawhi in LA. Shai will have the potential to make the All Star team next season if he keeps progressing as he is. He went from averaging 10 PPG to 19 PPG and maybe that’s because he was getting more touches and he kinda has PG named Chris Paul to help guide him. So the averages for Shai this season were 19.3 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 3.3 APG, on 47% FG, and 35% from 3. These numbers are so close to all star level numbers and nobody is talking about the rise of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Except Twitter Stans)

2. Domantas Sabonis (IND)

Now I know he was an all star this year but this list is to recognize people who had really good seasons that nobody is talking about and Domantas falls into that category. Averaging 18.5 PPG, 12.4 RPG, and 5 APG, Sabonis has proven to be the number one of that Pacers team without Victor Oladipo. Sabonis helped the Pacers become the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference ahead of the stacked 76ers. Sabonis brings so much value to the Pacers and when they get Victor back they’ll be a threat in the Eastern Conference, and people will start talking about Domantas Sabonis as an elite NBA player.

3. Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns has always been a consistently good player over his career, but this season in particular he’s been underlooked and maybe that’s because the Timberwolves just suck but you still can’t underlook what this man has done this season. He averaged 26.5 PPG, 10.8 RPG, and 4.4 APG, on 51% FG, and 41% from 3. KAT was very good this season and might be the only reason the Timberwolves didn’t go 0-82. When next season starts with him and DLO, lord may help to see what that dynamic duo can do, plus they are either gonna have LaMelo, Anthony Edwards, or another top 5 pick.

4. Collin Sexton (CLE)

The Cavs have been awful since LeBron left for LA, but the only positive thing has been the progression of Kevin Porter Jr, and Collin Sexton. Collin you could say was putting up all star numbers when the NBA stopped by averaging 20.8 PPG, 3.0 APG, and 3 RPG, shooting 47% FG, and 38% from deep. Collin alongside Kevin Love are the two trying to build a stable foundation to build off of. With KPJ, Collin, and Love they have a simple foundation and with a top 10 pick this upcoming draft they’ll have another piece to the puzzle. I really am high on Collin Sexton, and hopefully people besides Cavs fans can realize that.

5. Deandre Ayton (PHX)

After a “disappointing” rookie season, Deandre put up an amazing 2nd year that nobody is talking about. Again he does play for an irrelevant team and city but that shouldn’t be taken away from the point that he had a very good 2nd year. Averaging 19.0 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 1.7 BPG, shooting 55% from the field. I don’t why people aren’t seeing what this guy is doing now, is it because he was a number 1 overall pick and getting overshadowed by Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell. Maybe but Deandre deserves so much more love for the improvement he made from his rookie season and becoming one of the best C in the NBA.
