Kira Lewis Jr

Height: 6’3

Weight: 165 LBS

Position: Point Guard

Team: Alabama Crimson Tide

Birthdate: April-6-2001

The Meridianville native Kira Lewis Jr is a speedy Point Guard out of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Coming out of Hazel Green High School in 2018 Lewis Jr was a 4-STAR recruit and #45 on the ESPN top 100 with this ranking Lewis Jr was able to receive offers from the likes of; Alabama A&M, Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, UAB, UConn, Vanderbilt, Xavier, and Alabama where he later committed. In Kira’s freshmen year he played very well averaging; 13.5 PPG, 2.9 APG, and 2.6 RPG on 43.3% from the field. Despite this somewhat success, Kira elected to stay in college and return for his sophomore season. In Kira’s Sophomore campaign he improved in every major statistical category posting up; 18.5 PPG, 5.2 APG, and 4.8 RPG on 46% shooting.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Kira possesses blazing speed that gives him an edge on the break.
  • He is great at finding his teammates off the dribble.
  • Lewis Jr is very creative and shifty when attacking the rim.
  • His shooting is solid, shooting 36.6% from downtown and 80.2% from the foul line in 2019.
  • Burst that will excite fans and make it much easier for him to attack the rim.

Weaknesses

  • A small frame that allows him to get bodied often in the post.
  • With his small size, you would expect Kira to have a consistent floater but he has yet developed one.
  • Kira often attempts to make passes that are clearly not there.
  • Often lacks focus when on defense.
  • His shot selection often infuriates me.

Verdict, Player comparison & Best fit

  • In my opinion, Kira Lewis Jr is a player that will come off the bench, be a floor general, and give you some solid minutes. His speed and his shiftiness when attacking the rim gives me hope that he can develop to something more than just a secondary Point Guard option. His best team fit currently is the Philadelphia 76ers due to the fact they already have a starting Point Guard in Ben Simmons and this will allow him to develop on the bench and build strength for when he gets consistent minutes. Kira Lewis Jr’s player comparison is a much better William Avery.
